2. Compaction

Many homeowners don’t feel the necessity of compaction during the construction. This compaction has multiple benefits. 3. Inadequate drainage system

An inadequate drainage system means that the water is trapped and stored behind the wall, and slowly it decreases the shear strength of the soil by reducing the friction. It is better to include perforated pipes to encourage draining.
4. Faulty wall construction

Sometimes people use softwoods or weaker bricks to build these retaining walls for landscaping, but it is not a good idea. Before building the structure, make sure that the ground is well compacted and the materials are firm enough to withstand the climate or weather change, along with the pressure given by the earth and water. Remember that retaining structures increase the stability of the slope, and if it becomes weaker, the landmass will easily collapse.

There are different requirements for each material, such as the concrete design should have adequate rebar to be stable, while wooden structures should have the dead-man anchors. These are the major mistakes that many homeowners avoid or overlook, but any of these mistakes can crash the entire wall.
